Short biography
Giovanni Palmieri was born on July 31st 1977 at Benevento, Italy.
During his university studies he won (2001) a Socrates-Erasmus scholarship and then he studied for six months at University of Technology of Tampere (Finland).
He received the Laurea degree in Computer Science Engineering from Università degli Studi del Sannio, in October 2004. His thesis regards the realization of “Integrated system for optimization and facility management of Neuro- Intensive Care Ward of “G.Rummo” Hospital”. The aim of this study was to apply the Build Automation at Hospital. In particular, he programmed a simulator in Matlab enviroment, able to model and optimize the whole system used in the Hospital. The optimization strategies were implemented ex novo, first by logical operation and then by realization.
This thesis work is part of a Research Project called SIGEM. The supervisors of the thesis were: Ing. G.Fiengo, Ing. Giuseppe Peter Vanoli, Ing. Sabato Santaniello and Dott. Francesco Licciardi.
Until February (2005) he worked at Università del Sannio with the aim of produce a final version of the implemented simulator.
After until June 2006 he worked as assistant in a regional project about domotica.
The research project is proposed to develop a complete home automation system. Using the modern
methodologies the project is aimed to model, simulate, plan and realize an home automation system optimizing the performances in terms of the relationship cost/performances fusing the characteristics of centralized and distributed architectures.
The project is articulated in two phases. PHASE 1. At the end of this phase will be do a simulator of the home automation system. PHASE 2. Individuated the model of the home
automation system, we will proceed with the executive project through the planning of the single components of the system: control unit; control network; peripheral/network interface; consumer/system interface. At the end of this phase will be do control algorithms for the
management of the home automation system.
After until April 2007 he worked as assistant in an another reserch project "Simulator for steel plant scheduling". The project is articulated in two phases. PHASE 1. At the end of this phase will be do a simulator of production-flow of steel plant.
PHASE 2. Done simulatator, in this phase it is used to design a scheduler module. The result of scheduler is a optimun production plain.
Now He is a Ph.d Student of Università degli studi del Sannio, his scholarship is sponsored by ELASIS Research Center
